Lime Street Station, Etched Glass Mural
Lime Street, Liverpool

Picture taken on Friday 19th October 2007, donated by Pat Neill

Artists: Diane Radford, Lindsay Ball, Andrew Cooper & Clifford Rainey

The main concourse has separate access to platforms serving local and major cross-country services. This etched glass mural separates ticketed access to platforms 7 to 9 from pedestrian traffic using the Skelhorne Street entrance. It dates from the 1984 remodelling of the station. The scenes depicted are from the early history of the station and the tunnel from Edge Hill to Lime Street built by William McKenzie. Diane Radford and Lindsey Ball are both artists in glass, they met at the Royal College of Art and worked in partnership on joint commissions for 17 years, but now work on individual commissions. Cooper is also a respected craftsman working in glass. Rainey once toured with the circus but now teaches at California College Of Arts & Crafts.
